In an interview with Seahawks WR DK Metcalf, he outlined the impact Marshawn Lynch had on the young Seahawk players last season. He stressed how bad he wants Marshawn to be back on the team, in one compacity or another.

Marshawn Lynch has long been a staple of the Seahawks for years. Between his bullying play on field, to his hilarious off the field interviews, he became an icon for the fanbase. Listening to DK Metcalf, it appears his impact reaches a lot farther than just the fanbases and on field stats. He really took the young Seahawk players under his wing last season.

"“I know on the plane to Philly, he was like ‘alright bro this is how you save your money, this is what you do in Seattle, this is what we did.’”"

Lynch has coined the catch phrase “take care of yo chicken.” That phrase isn’t just something he said to media to get a laugh, he truly meant it. He had no problem taking time out of his day to help the young players get a better understanding of how to set themselves up for the future. This is a sign of a true leader of men. Through this, he gained a lot of respect from the young players.

DK Metcalf said:

"“He was talking to me and D-Mo (David Moore) and I turn around and I see Cody (Barton), I see (Travis) Homer, I see Jacob Hollister. Everybody’s just listening to him like he’s the head of the group. Back there just splitting knowledge to us. (Explaining) how he’s made it 9, 10, 11 years in the league.”"

Metcalf also outlined that many people misunderstand Marshawn Lynch by the persona he gives off to media. He reflected in the interview that Marshawn is one of the smartest people he has met in the league. When asked why Marshawn is still playing, despite having nothing to prove, his answer was golden.

"“To bring us along with him. To show us the way. Because, if he can’t be a player, then he can be one of our mentors. We will all still listen to him, whether he is on the field or not. I think he just wants to help us make it.”"

The amount of respect that Metcalf has for Lynch should be enlightening. This sheds an even brighter light on a beloved figure for the Seahawks fan base. This also gives me hope that Lynch could turn to coaching once he decides to turns his cleats in for the final time.

Next. Seahawks should bring back these former players for 2020. dark

If Lynch decides that is the route he wants to go, I am sure the Seahawks would accept him in with open arms in that role. To listen to the interview in its entirety, check out the video above.
