Number 2 – Chris Carson

I am cheating a little bit with this pick. Chris Carson will be 25 years old if the NFL season starts on time and then turn 26 in September. Carson, though, is the best running back for the Seahawks since Marshawn Lynch was younger and healthy. He has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and should have another in 2020.

Chris Carson, see, is a full-grown man. He will run you over. Carson will jump over you. He will do what he needs to do to gain his yards, even when Seattle’s line doesn’t run block well. Carson was the fifth-leading rusher in the NFL in 2019 and one should expect that or better this coming season.

Carson currently ranks 10th on the Seahawks all-time rushing list. He has only played three seasons. The former seventh-round draft pick (that’s right, seventh-round) will rank number 8 after 2020 if he gains 1,000 yards. Carson will simply be one of the best running backs in Seattle history by the time he is done in Seattle.

That is, of course, if the Seahawks choose to re-sign him after 2020. Running backs do age quickly and Carson has a physical style that does not lend itself to a really long career. But Carson is also a workout beast, so let’s not doubt his drive or ability to punish opponents for the next several years.
