Seahawks should trade for star DT Cameron Heyward

Outlining why Seahawks could trade for Cameron Heyward
To give a bit of background, the Steelers organization abides by a very specific set of internal rules. One such rule, the Steelers do not negotiate contracts during the regular season. This means that if the Steelers were to sign Heyward to an extension, it would have to be done by the end of August. The problem is, there doesn’t appear to be any traction on that front.
Heyward has spoken to the media a few times over the past couple of days. Most recently, he said:
"“Man, I hate talking about it in the past tense like I am already gone, but I have to be ready for the reality if that comes about.”"
When asked about if the Steelers have talked to Heyward’s agent regarding a new contract, he said:
"“We have talked about it (prior), but things happen. We haven’t had any talks as of late, it may be due to the virus, but I don’t know. I don’t know if their minds have changed. If I have to play this year and go into next year as a free agent, so be it. That’s not going to deter me form being the best teammate, the best person, the best player I can be.”"
Given that the regular season is slated to start in just 3 short months, I find it very unusual that negotiation haven’t taken place. After all, the negotiations typically take weeks, if not months to conclude. This is especially true on third contracts. Think back to the complexities surrounding Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner’s latest contracts. They took months and were messy.
It’s very possible that the Steelers see this roster and think we have one last hurrah and if this doesn’t pan out, they will begin a rebuild. However, I believe if a team came in with an aggressive offer for the star defensive tackle, they would be open to hearing out the proposal out.
