The Seahawks need to make some smart and cost savings roster cuts before week one of 2020. Some veterans might be involved in the cuts.

There are always tough decisions to make when it comes time for NFL teams to make roster cuts. The Seahawks seem to trim their roster down in some surprising ways every season. Remember last year when for a short period of time before week one Russell Wilson was the only quarterback on the roster?

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll also likes to keep his team youngish and this means some veterans will lose their jobs. K.J. Wright would be a surprising cut, but Seattle did choose Jordyn Brooks in the first round and returns Cody Barton. So for salary cap reasons, Wright could be playing elsewhere in 2020.

Seattle did acquire cornerback Quinton Dunbar this offseason, but due to Dunbar’s off the field issues he might not ever play in Seattle. Or he could be vindicated and play week one. I do not have Dunbar on this list of players who are currently on the Seahawks roster but might never play a down for the team, though, because Dunbar would be too easy.

What follows are five new players to Seattle that may or may not be on the week one roster of 2020. Seattle still has needs to fill, like getting a certain pass rusher. Seattle will need to come under the cap while also improving the roster. To do so, some new faces will need to be let go before 12s even see them play a regular season down for the Seahawks.
