Seattle Seahawks: Stealing one player from every NFC North foe
Minnesota Vikings: DE Danielle Hunter
Again, there were several considerations here.
Could you imagine the Seahawks’ receiving corps with Adam Thielen added to the mix? Both of the Vikings’ safeties, Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris, could bring something special to the Seattle secondary, but safety just isn’t a need right now. Maybe Michael Pierce to add some run-stuffing ability upfront or the playmaking at linebacker of Eric Kendricks?
Nope. Passed on all of them for Danielle Hunter, arguably one of the best pass-rushing defensive ends in the NFL right now. And better yet, he’s only 25 years old. The kid has many years to go before he peaks, meaning a plethora of sacks for the Seahawks defense in the next few seasons.
Yes, I already stole Mack from the Bears. Still, in today’s NFL, can you really have too many quality pass rushers? Overnight, the Seahawks would suddenly boast the best pass rush in the league with both Mack and Hunter bookending the defensive line.
It would also mean not having to settle on who Seattle currently has to offer at defensive end. I don’t doubt that Irvin and Mayowa can be a competent starting duo, but they couldn’t hold a candle to the damage their hypothetical replacements are capable of.
The best is yet to come with Hunter based on his current trajectory. Why not let him realize his full potential in the Emerald City?
