The Seahawks have a desperate need at the defensive end position. Trading for McKinley would be an inexpensive proposition to add a lot of talent and potential.

These are the types of moves the Seahawks built the 2013-2015 roster around. Betting on players upside and successfully bringing the most out of them. McKinley has the speed and athleticism to be a productive player in the NFL. He just hasn’t been in the right situation for whatever reason to bring it out.

He doesn’t necessarily need to be a full-time starter either. The Seahawks don’t need him to pad the stat sheet (although, it would be preferable). They would be trading for a disruptive player, like Jadeveon Clowney. One who created pressure to help those around him be better.

The trade wouldn’t be overly expensive:

Seattle would absorb the completely un-guaranteed portion of his salary ($1.8 million against the salary cap for 2020).

This would give the Falcons some draft value for a player who has fallen out of favor. The team has already signed his heir apparent in Dante Fowler Jr. This would be the best option for both the player and the team, a fresh start.

The Falcons would also get a valuable wide receiver to battle with Laquan Treadwell for the third spot. David Moore is a fiery competitor, with strong hands and is a great blocker.
