Tampa Bay Buccaneers: EDGE Shaquil Barrett

The Buccaneers have plenty of offensive talent to choose from, but I couldn’t focus solely on that side of the ball. Again, there were limited options available on Tampa Bay’s defense, but one player in particular made this a fairly easy decision for me.

Shaquil Barrett is one of my favorite edge rushers from around the league and is among the NFL’s most underrated talents. He’s also coming off a breakout season during which he was finally given an opportunity to shine — and did exactly that.

During his first campaign as a full-time starter, Barrett turned the potential he’d previously flashed into non-stop production. Starting all 16 games, Barrett racked up a league-leading 19.5 sacks while adding an additional 30 pressures, six forced fumbles and an interception. The former undrafted free agent out of Colorado State quickly proved to be among the league’s best pass rushers.

Next. Seahawks should steal these players from the NFC North. dark

As it so happens, the Seahawks need an upgrade in the pass-rushing department. After failing to re-sign Jadeveon Clowney (so far), they’re left with little in terms of reliable, proven pass rushers. Adding Barrett to the mix, however, would give the Seattle defense an immediate upgrade in that department. If this were to happen, I’d be going out and grabbing my Barrett Seahawks jersey ASAP.
