7. How good will the O-Line be?

This is a tricky and insanely important question that most likely will not be answered with “Very good.” I will have some answers about the offensive line on Monday when my Seahawks Position Preview comes out, but in terms of how good they will be, that will be determined by many factors. The biggest determining factor will be Damien Lewis.

Lewis was the Seahawks 2020 third-round pick and he will compete for the starting right guard role with second-year Seahawk Phil Haynes. Haynes was a fourth-round pick in 2019 who missed almost all of last season due to injury and never got on the field.

Lewis definitely has a high ceiling and he reminds me of fellow SEC o-lineman DJ Fluker. Both only got one year to start and both won a National Championship in their only year starting.

Aside from Lewis, there are newcomers and probable starters BJ Finney and Brandon Shell, as well as returning Seahawks Duane Brown and Mike Iupati. We know how good all four of these linemen are (and aside from Brown, it’s not great) which means that the line will be as good as Lewis lets it be. If the Seahawks found a diamond in the third round rough with Lewis, then maybe the line can return to a form of years past being at least average.
