Seahawks Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner ranked among best

ESPN continues to roll out its position rankings for 2020. This week, ESPN ranked Seahawks Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner among their positions.
Here is news, Seahawks fans! Quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner are really good, according to ESPN. OK. So this isn’t really news as any 12 not living in a cave since 2012 would already know Wilson and Wagner are likely future Hall of Famers. But ESPN’s 2020 ranking of positions confirms these two are still great.
In ESPN’s ranking of 2020 NFL quarterbacks, Wilson came in second. According to ESPN, they asked “more than 50 league executives, coaches, scouts and players to help us stack the top 10 players at 11 different positions.” So at least they just didn’t make the rankings up on their own because this is the same four-letter network that has let go of the likes of Josina Anderson recently, so their integrity is in question.
The Seahawks’ Wilson ranked second to Patrick Mahomes in “best” quarterbacks. Fine. Mahomes is great. If he were on the Seahawks would Seattle be better? No. Wilson makes an at best 8-8 football team and makes them playoff-bound. Wilson makes the Seahawks better than the sum of its parts.
If Wilson were on the 2019 Chiefs, would Kansas City have won the Super Bowl? Yes. No disrespect to Mahomes. He is a fantastic quarterback. But if you think Wilson can’t match Mahomes throw for throw just re-watch the 2018 game between the Seahawks and Chiefs and you will re-think your world point of view.
Bobby Wagner is best!
There has been some debate as to whether Bobby Wagner is actually the best linebacker in the NFL. 12s know he has been but Wagner hasn’t always gotten his due. ESPN, though, stated he was the best at his position. As ESPN puts it, “His fastball is still better than everyone else’s.”

Wagner is a Hall of Famer. If he were to retire right now (and please, Mr. Wagner, don’t do it!), he’d still be a Hall of Famer. But Wagner continues to be the best Seahawks defensive player. And likely will be next year. But that isn’t a slight against Seattle’s defense. That is simply just how good Wagner is.
