This past Thursday the NFL had a deadline for players to opt-out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19. The Seahawks and NFC West did not lose many players.

As opposed to teams like the New England Patriots, the Seahawks did not lose very many players to opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. In fact, the entire NFC West lost only as many players as the Patriots lost as a team. And no players that opted out in the division were expected to make huge impacts.

NFL players who opt-out for this year can earn $350,000 and an accrued season if they are considering high-risk. Players not considered high-risk that opt-out can earn $150,000.

Below is the full list of NFC West players who will not participate this season.

Seattle Seahawks

Chance Warmack

Warmack could have battled for a starting right guard spot for the Seahawks this year but was also at risk for not even making the team. Seattle drafted Damien Lewis in the 2020 NFL draft and Lewis could very likely start in week one.

San Francisco 49ers

Travis Benjamin

Shon Coleman

Jake Brendel

The 49ers lost the most players in the NFC West but none lost were definitely going to be starters. Receiver Benjamin might be the best known of the group but hasn’t had more than 34 receptions in a season since 2017.

Offensive lineman Coleman had leukemia as an 18 year-old and is clearly considered high-risk. He was likely to make the roster and was in the mix to start.

Brendel was another offensive lineman lost but he was going to be on the bubble to make the active roster.

Los Angeles Rams

Chandler Brewer

Brewer is an offensive lineman that played in seven games for the Rams in 2019. He was not expected to start this year. Brewer has had non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is considered high-risk.

Arizona Cardinals

Marcus Gilbert

Right tackle Gilbert has struggled with injuries the last several seasons, the last two of which have seen Gilbert end the season on the Injured Reserve list. He is a nine-year vet, however, and was going to be given a chance to start.
