DK Metcalf is an explosive player

DK Metcalf was also explosive in making plays down the field. Two that caught my eye during the regular season were against the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams.

Against the New Orleans Saints in week 3, as the Seahawks were trying to get points on the board, Wilson hit Metcalf on a 54-yard bomb down the field.

Against the Los Angeles Rams in week 14, Metcalf reeled in yet another beautifully thrown ball by Wilson up the sideline against cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Metcalf’s most impressive game of the season came in one of the biggest moments of the season; the wild card game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Metcalf was targeted 9 times. He caught 7 of those balls for 160 yards and recorded one touchdown (ESPN). He also had the game-sealing catch up the seam to ensure that the Seattle Seahawks would be moving onto the divisional round. After the grab, he made sure to let the Eagles fans know they were going home.

DK Metcalf showed up when his team relied on him. While he had his rookie mistakes, he showed glimpses of what he could be in the near future. Metcalf is my candidate as a breakout player for the Seattle Seahawks this season. One of the large criticisms surrounding Metcalf was his “weak” route running. Metcalf has spent this offseason working on his route running and has shown it in training camp.
