Jadeveon Clowney is still a free agent but he might want too much but the Seahawks really use him. Where will he sign for 2020?

According to the Pro Football Network’s Benjamin Allbright, Jadeveon Clowney is going to make a decision on where to play football for the 2020 season in the next “couple of days.” Of course, he said this on Thursday, so any day now 12s will know if Jadeveon Clowney will be returning to play with the Seahawks.

Here is the issue, though. Clowney still seems to want $15 million. Maybe some team, like the Tennessee Titans, will give him this much, but Seattle will not. At least, from all the information 12s have gotten so far, John Schneider isn’t wanting to pony up that kind of money.

Jadeveon Clowney has two likely options. One is to not play at all and wait until next season, come back completely healthy and see what the landscape is. The problem with this for Clowney is that there is no guarantee he would make more next year as the salary cap will be even less due to how COVID-19 is affecting fans being in stands which hurts the NFL’s bottom line.

Plus, Clowney will be a year older and not a dollar richer. Clowney might wait for a bigger payday, but he would never really recoup the money lost from not playing for a year or part of a year.

The second option for Jadeveon Clowney

The second most likely option is that Jadeveon Clowney signs a one-year deal somewhere at a reduced rate, shows again just how great he can be and earns more money in his next contract. Sacks make players money and Clowney only had 3 in 2019 but he had no help from other Seahawks defensive linemen.

If Jadeveon Clowney comes back to the Seahawks he would have more help this season in pressuring the quarterback since Seattle signed Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa this offseason, traded for Jamal Adams and drafted two pass rushers. Clowney might not get 10 sacks, but if he could get to 9, he will make a lot of money with his next contract.

Next. 4 Seahawks that could be traded before the season. dark

No matter what, according to Allbright, 12s will soon know whether they will be joyful that Clowney has returned to the Seahawks or bummed that Seattle didn’t offer him more and watching Clowney sign elsewhere.
