On Friday, actor Chadwick Boseman passed away from cancer and some Seahawks shared their thoughts via Twitter.

2020 needs to end and 2021 needs to begin with happiness. As the year continues to bring non-stop sadness, actor Chadwick Boseman died from colon cancer on Friday at age 43. Boseman managed to play such iconic roles as Black Panther while also dealing with surgeries and chemotherapy related to his disease. Many Seattle Seahawks took to Twitter to react to his passing.

Duane Brown shared the tweet that representatives of Boseman put out. Brown’s tweet shared the shock that many of us felt. Boseman clearly did not want to draw attention to himself that he was ill and instead let his work talk for him. Even sick, Boseman had more strength than most humans ever will.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted a common thought. Common but still resonant. Wakanda was about many things and strength is an important aspect of the story. Boseman had strength and will always be connected to what Wakanda’s meaning is.

New Seahawks safety Jamal Adams shared a tweet of Boseman giving a commencement speech and issuing some very powerful and relatable words. Adams himself is an excellent motivator and has obviously found some strength through Boseman’s message.

Metcalf’s precise and perfect tweet

D.K. Metcalf’s tweet is simple but I also find it extremely poignant. “Yibambe” translates to “hold the line, hold fast and hold strong.” This is what we all need to be doing in 2020, the year that has caused people to have to sacrifice so much.

2020 challenged us again on Friday with the death of Chadwick Boseman. Boseman transcended simply being an actor with his own words and the way he spoke his lines in films. Many people will look at how he lived through and fought cancer. Many Seahawks were inspired by Boseman and likely many more 12s are as well.
