Two weeks until the Seahawks start 2020! And D.K. Metcalf is number 14. One plus one equals 14.

D.K. Metcalf is about to be fully unleashed upon the NFL. In 2019, he was a rookie and just finding out good he could be. And guess what, 12s? D.K. Metcalf is going to be really good and you already know that. So do the Seahawks. And the rest of the league is about to feel Metcalf’s wrath for the next 10 seasons. Hopefully, all as a member of the Seahawks. Coincidentally enough, Metcalf wears number 14 which is how many days there are until Seattle starts the 2020 season.

On paper, is Metcalf the best number 14 ever for the Seahawks? No? But probably. In one season Metcalf had an Approximate Value (according to Pro Football Focus) of 8. That is one season. The best number 14 in Seattle history is Rick Tuten who in six seasons had an AV of 18. But we all know Tuten wasn’t that valuable (he was a punter after all) and Metcalf is.

D.K. Metcalf, a rookie in 2019 who had 900 yards receiving, will easily be the best number 14 in Seahawks history by the time he is done playing in Seattle. Heck, he might be the best Seahawk to ever wear number 14 by the end of his second season. In honor of that, here are some great moments from Metcalf last year.

D.K. Metcalf is fast

In a record-setting playoff for Metcalf (he had 160 yards receiving which was a rookie playoff record), Metcalf had a 52-yard touchdown reception where he completely blew past his man, so much so that he had time to catch the ball, get back up and dive in for the score. The play showcased all the elements of his freakish skill.

DK Metcalf is really fast

I am leaving off a lot of Metcalf highlights, like the play against the Browns where he kept pushing the poor defensive back for about 8 more yards. But I will leave you with this.

D.K. Metcalf is going to be really good and with a year of experience and more time to learn his trade, he could be unstoppable. There are 14 days until the Seahawks start their season. And there are probably 14 days before D.K. Metcalf scores a touchdown.
