Here is the list of Seattle Seahawks inactive versus the Atlanta Falcons in week one.

The Seahawks have chosen to make inactive in week one a couple of rookies that might otherwise be important contributors this season. Running back DeeJay Dallas and defensive end Alton Robinson will not play versus the Falcons.

Also not playing in Atlanta are slot receiver Phillip Dorsett, linebacker D’Andre Walker and two offensive linemen Jamarco Jones and Cedric Ogbuehi. Dorsett not playing means Freddie Swain will so it will be interesting to see what the rookie can do in the first game of his career. Penny Hart will also get some snaps.

The Seahawks probably made the moves to not play Robinson and Dallas simply because there were no preseason games and rookies will, obviously, never have played an NFL game and may not be ready for the speed of the game. Still, at some point Robinson and Dallas need snaps for the experience.

Seattle’s edge rushers will consist of L.J. Collier, Rasheem Green, Benson Mayowa, Bruce Irvin and Damontre Moore. Moore was a late-training camp signing who Seahawks brass must see something in. Hopefully, they are correct and Moore will get 10 sacks on Sunday. A 12 can hope anyway, right?

Seattle will go with experience in week one against Matt Ryan and that is probably the smart move. Maybe Seattle will be better at getting pressure on quarterbacks later in the season than week one but in week one being safe is probably better than being risky.

The Falcons inactives

Atlanta won’t play cornerback Kendall Sheffield, which isn’t a surprise, nor rookie defensive tackle Marlon Davidson. Both players missed time in practice this past week so both missing week one is not a surprise.

Both teams are basically pretty healthy so it should be a fair matchup. Let’s just hope the Seahawks don’t lose anyone long-term during the game. And also, that Seattle wins.
