Many have made a big deal out of west coast teams traveling to the east coast and playing early and vice versa. The time difference can disrupt the team’s sleeping patterns, all the miles traveled can cause players to be tired, etc. I’ve always felt that the key to winning whether it be at home or on road is preparation and discipline. Those are two things that can travel with you regardless of where you fly too.

Last year, the Seahawks improved their east coast streak to 8 in a row. They had picked up impressive victories over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers. This year, they started off on the east coast and once again picked up the victory.

The Seahawks do not use traveling as an excuse, they actually embrace it and love playing on the east coast. Pete Carroll wants his team to enjoy challenges and competition as much as he does.

The Seahawks showed up today, were prepared, executed their game plan and made big plays when they needed too. In fact, they showed up today and scored on their first two scoring drives which is rare in a Seahawks opener. While they have some things to work on such as the offensive line penalties and working on their pass rush attack, the Seahawks were once again, very impressive on the road.
