Fun stat No. 2: Benson Mayowa was 1 of only 5 DL with a batted pass in week 1.

As I eluded to in the intro, Benson Mayowa was impressive. I can’t honestly say I am surprised, I wrote an article about a month ago saying he is going to be the next Chris Clemons. A late bloomer who comes to the Seahawks and wreaks havoc. Clemons had 33 sacks in 3 years with Seattle (2010-2012).

Mayowa was great in week 1. He accumulated 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 batted pass. He almost had a second sack as well. The best part about the sack he got, he laid out superman style to get it. It was a thing of beauty.

Mayowa is going to have a significantly harder time getting hard stats in week two, however. The Patriots offensive line is absolutely stacked.

Patriots offensive line grades from week 1, per PFF:

LT: Isaiah Wynn – 78.4

LG: Joe Thuney – 82.3

C: David Andrews – 80.4

RG: Shaw Mason – 89.2

RT: Jermaine Eluemunor – 75.2

PFF is not gold in terms of evaluating a team. However, it is a useful tool. This offensive line is no joke and we are going to need Mayowa to dominate in week 2 if Seattle is going to be successful. This will be a real test for who Mayowa is going to be for Seattle.
