Seahawks versus Patriots: 5 bold predictions for Seattle
By Lee Vowell
Seahawks win a low scoring game
The Seahawks and Patriots have played three times since Russell Wilson became the Seahawks quarterback and Seattle is 2-1 in those games with the lone loss coming in the Super Bowl they should have won. But the net point spread in those three games is 4 points. Seattle has beaten New England by 1 point and then by 7. New England beat Seattle by 4.
In each of those three games, some team has scored 24 points. Twice getting to 24 points was enough to win the game. I don’t think either team gets to 24, though, in Sunday’s matchup. Neither defense is perfect, though New England’s might still be a bit better overall. And Seattle does have the better offense.
But Patriots coach Bill Belichick designs schemes that take away as much of the other team’s best players ability to take over a game as possible. Russell Wilson is Seattle’s best player. Wilson will still make plays, especially with his feet, but 12s shouldn’t expect the same kind of offensive production as in week one when they scored 38.
New England will probably run a lot and eat clock. This will make the game a bit shorter but also limit the amount of drives each team has. By the end, Wilson will make one play too many and Seattle will win 17-16.
