The Seattle Seahawks have to be one of the most energetic teams in all of football.

It is no secret that Pete Carroll is filled with energy. Week after week we see Carroll vicariously chewing his gun during games, running up and down the sidelines when big plays are made, and of course his pre-game routine of throwing the football around with gloves on.

The culture that has been set in Seattle has allowed this team to be competitive for the last decade. Carroll preaches competition and even has his guys play a basketball game during their team meetings to keep the idea of competition floating around.

The team really does stick together and pick each other up when they are down. During Sunday’s game, I noticed a couple of times when a big play was made the sidelines erupted running onto the field or going crazy on the sideline.

The idea of being together is something that Carroll has always been able to get through to his players. He was excellent at it during his dominant years at USC and has carried over that philosophy to the pros were evidently, it works. He makes his players believe that the game is truly never over and makes them play every down.

A perfect example of this would be during Sunday’s game when the Patriots were running the clock out before the end of the 1st half and Carroll called the one timeout he had to send a message to his team that every play matters and means something.

Coach Carroll deserves all the credit for instilling the tone at the Seahawks facility and is lucky enough to have leaders like Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams who epitomize what Carroll believes in.

Although the Seahawks do not have the best roster in the NFL, they have what most other teams don’t have: faith and belief that they can win every game they play in. I love what I saw from the guys last night on the sidelines. The body language was positive and of course, everyone has a smile on their face after a prime-time victory!
