The Seahawks got big performances from several players in Sunday’s thriller vs the Patriots, but no one delivered more than the great one, Russell Wilson.

Okay 12s, I’m gonna level with you. I’m just going to write my Seahawks MVP articles for the rest of the 2020 season now. Clearly, Russell Wilson is going to take the prize almost every week, right? Be sure to look for keywords or phrases like “indomitable”, “phenomenal”, “field general”, and “ice in his veins”. I’ll try to limit their use to once per article, but it isn’t easy when it comes to Number 3.

Let me be clear, it’s a bit hard to choose anyone other than DangeRuss as the game MVP when he is clearly the league MVP so far. I’m pretty sure our guy Geoff Shull has millions of supporters on that call. As for this particular game, yes, Russell Wilson was incredible. I was rather shocked that he had more incompletions (seven) than touchdowns (five). Hey Russ, you might want to clean your game up a little, okay?

Seriously, just two more misses than scores? One of those misses wasn’t a miss at all, of course. On the first drive, Wilson put the ball on the hands of the normally reliable Greg Olsen. The new Seahawks tight end promptly squirted the ball into the air like the proverbial greased pig and into the hands of the Pats Devin McCourty. 43 yards later, New England led 7-0.

As mistakes go, that was pretty egregious. Number 3 would not repeat it, as Olsen didn’t see another target all night. You know who did get opportunities? Basically everyone else on the roster. I stepped away from the screen for a minute, but I’m pretty sure Wilson hit Jake Luppino and Raymond Lucas Jr. – they both write for 12thManRising, so I’m sure they caught the balls. Okay, maybe not, but Wilson did hit eight different receivers, splitting those five scores equally.

Wilson was cool under pressure – hey, new phrase for me! – all night, and was just sacked twice. Even with the interception that was on on-target, his passer rating for the night was a phenomenal 132.1. Yeah, weak sauce compared to the 143.1 he posted in week one, but they can’t all be gems, can they? No sir, they cannot. Unless your name is Russell Wilson, that is.

As the greatest quarterback himself said after the game, this was a team effort. It certainly was that. Lockett, Metcalf, Moore, Carson, and Swain all caught those touchdowns. Jamal Adams played lights out again; he’s beginning to look like he’s worth three or four first-round picks, at least. I have zero doubts that one of these weeks I’ll be writing MVP in front of his name. But as long as Wilson is playing like this, it’s going to be hard to stray from those next 14 pre-written stories.
