Seahawks versus Cowboys: Three bold predictions
By Lee Vowell
Seahawks will win a high-scoring close game
I have gone back and forth on this game this week. The worry is that the Seahawks don’t have a pass rush but neither, so far, do the Cowboys. Seattle’s offensive skill players are really good and the line hasn’t been bad and Russell Wilson should be the MVP if the season were to end now (which would be weird).
I do really believe that the Seahawks defense is better than its numbers might imply. The linebacker group is very good. Seattle’s secondary on paper is good and Quinton Dunbar played pretty well last week. If the Seahawks can get more pressure on Dak Prescott and keep stopping the run decently, this game will be a blowout. But that is the best-case scenario.
Worst-case, besides key injuries obviously, would be that Seattle gets behind by a couple of touchdowns and force Seattle to throw more intentionally. Having to obviously do something also means, oddly enough, less creativity. At least, that is based on recent Seattle history.
I think what happens is somewhere in between. The game stays fairly close with both teams scoring early. A halftime score of 21-17 would not be surprising. Heck, even 24-20 wouldn’t be. But I think Wilson has just enough late-game magic to pull out a win in the fourth quarter 35-31 and give every 12 the weekly emotional heart attack they have come to expect.
