Seahawks defensive end Rasheem Green will miss at least three games with an injury.

On Friday Pete Carroll said that the Seahawks will be placing Rasheem Green, who led Seattle in sacks last year, on the injured reserve list. This is bad following the season-ending injury to Brice Irvin in week two. Seattle already struggles with the pass rush and the latest news only makes that concern worse. Green will have to miss at least three games before he can return.

On the positive side – or at least hopefully it is positive – the Seahawks will likely play rookie defensive end Alton Robinson for the first time this season. Robinson was a healthy scratch in the first two games. In training camp, Robinson was impressive and let’s hope that carries into real games.

Seattle is also hoping to get some juice going in the pass rush by starting rookie linebacker Jordyn Brooks and potentially activating D’Andre Walker or Shaquem Griffin.

Seattle could also be without Benson Mayowa, the only defensive lineman who has a sack for the Seahawks this year. Mayowa is listed as questionable with a groin injury. He did practice on Friday, so that’s a good sign.

Cornerback Quinton Dunbar, who had an interception in week two versus the Patriots, is also listed as questionable with a knee injury. He missed most of practice this week, but coach Carroll did sound relatively optimistic that Dunbar would play in week three and made it sound as if Dunbar was being held out more simply to rest the injury.

Neiko Thorpe also may miss the game with a hip injury and he did not practice on Friday. Thorpe is an excellent special teams player so his absence would be felt in that area.
