4 cornerbacks that the Seahawks should consider signing
By Geoff Shull
Player 4: Morris Claiborne
Mo Claiborne is in no hurry to sign with any team. Very similar to how Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison is handling free agency. Simply biding his time waiting for the right situation to come along.
Seattle could be that situation for Claiborne. Another opportunity to get back to the Super Bowl. Another opportunity for playing time on a contender. Another opportunity to be on the field with an elite roster.
Claiborne can play all over the field. He can be the left or right cornerback or even play slot. It’s that type of versatility that could be crucial for Seattle given the lengthy injury list the team is dealing with after the first three weeks of the 2020 season.
Claiborne has allowed a completion percentage of just 53.5% over the last two seasons. During that time span, he has 14 passes defended and 2 interceptions.
Contractually, Claiborne will likely ask for something around what he made with the Kansas City Chiefs. That would put him right around $1-$1.5 million. Again, given the depth of injuries, the team is facing in the secondary, the signing of Claibourne could be huge later in the season.
