Seahawks versus Vikings: 3 bold predictions week five
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks win a close game and move to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history
Why do I have a picture of Russell Wilson and Kam Chancellor here? Because both players were on the first Seahawks team to start 4-0. You might remember that season, 12s. That was the year Seattle won the Super Bowl. Seattle then lost in its fifth game to the Colts 34-28.
That won’t happen this season. The Seahawks will put up a lot of points against the Vikings and will need every one of them. Seattle could score 50 points but the Vikings would probably score 45. As 12s all know, Seattle simply plays close games nearly every week.
But there is something different about this year’s team because for the first time in a very long time, Seattle does have the ability to beat teams almost solely with its offense. With Russell Wilson and his receivers and Chris Carson and his fellow backs, Seattle can both run and pass. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has called excellent games (even though he was able to take a series off in week four) and used Seattle’s abundance of weapons well.
Still, as I said, this game will be close and have moments where Seattle feels completely in control and then moments where they are on the cusp of blowing a lead and the game. In the end, Seattle will win 38-34 and move to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history.
