Does the bye week really help the Seahawks?

The Seattle Seahawks head into their Week 6 bye with a 5-0 record after defeating the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins and just eking out a win against the Minnesota Vikings this past week.

With the Seahawks off to a great start, they get a week off of to rest which will especially be beneficial for guys like Jamal Adams who’s nursing a groin injury.

While a week off is nice, does it really help the Seahawks at this time or does it do more harm to the team chemistry and momentum that they have?

I think the bye week hurts the team more than it helps them. Currently, the Seahawks are one of four teams that are undefeated with the others being the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers who all play this week.

While the Seahawks have to pause all workouts and football activities, the other teams get to have their momentum stick with them as they look to stay undefeated.

Even without a game to be played this week, the Seahawks can’t hold any workouts or activities at their facilities as the rules state. While players could work out on their own outside team facilities, most use the bye week to rest and sometimes travel especially with how hectic and how much of their body takes a toll during the season.

Aside from not being able to work out or participate in football activities as a team, it ruins the momentum that the team has. The team has been on a roll by not losing a game and they will not have to put that momentum aside for the bye week and hope to regain it when they get back on the field.

When they do return to the field for Week 7 in Arizona, they will hope to regain their mojo and continue their unbeaten streak for as long as they possibly can.
