5 most likely teams Seahawks could trade with before the deadline
By Geoff Shull
Potential trade partner number 5: Washington Football Team
The Washington Football Team (going to be referred to as the WFT from here on out) is who we thought they were. They have struggled in nearly every facet of the game outside of the pass rush. They are clearly in a rebuild and still looking for their quarterback of the future.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if a full-blown fire sale occurred over the next couple of weeks. The team could use every pick it could get its hands on. This is especially true with how strong the offensive prospects look in the draft.
Buyer:
I am going to avoid writing too much on this one, as I have written extensively about this trade recently. It just makes too much sense. Kerrigan is an absolute stud and is playing second string, while the WFT gives its youngsters a chance to start. Kerrigan is unlikely to be in their long term plans. At this point, the draft capital is worth more to the team than his production.
Seattle would receive the perfect player for their system. He could play LEO or 5-tech. He plays the run and the pass. He has phenomenal technique and an absurdly high football IQ. He is the KJ Wright of the WFT. This trade is a no brainer for both sides. If any of the trades from this entire article could happen, I would want it to be this one.
Buyer:
Kevin Pierre-Louis likely sounds familiar, and it should. The Seahawks selected him in the 2014 NFL draft. While the pairing didn’t work out then, there is a distinct possibility it could now. First, he has familiarity with the system. He is currently playing the best football of his career this year. Finally, he fits a need at the strong-side linebacker.
If Jordyn Brooks needs more time to heal, this could be a plug and play veteran to keep the linebacker corps rolling. Meanwhile, the WFT gets a late-round pick for their buy low on the player. Not too shabby of a move for either side.
