What would it take to get the trade completed for the Seahawks?

The Seahawks don’t have a lot of draft capital. That undoubtedly hurts their odds of making this happen. However, I have another idea that could appease all parties.

The Cowboys have two massive holes on their roster. The first is in run protection. Their defense is allowing the second-most yards per attempt at 5.1 and the second-most yards per game at 173. This means that their defense is not only getting beat on a per rush basis, but other teams are doing it all game long.

The second hole is in their secondary. The lack of a true difference-maker at the safety position has hurt tremendously. Dallas has been rumored to have interest in Earl Thomas for the better part of a year now. However, due to all the drama surrounding Thomas, he is more or less in purgatory. It’s time they get a safety that is actually worth his salt.

The projected trade:

Poona Ford has quietly been one of the best run-stuffing defensive tackles in the NFL. He is a fan favorite and a personal favorite of mine. However, I don’t see a deal coming together that he isn’t included.

Quandre Diggs is a phenomenal safety and a leader. However, his chemistry on the field with Jamal Adams hasn’t been what we would have hoped. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a lot of opportunities to develop it either.

Quandre Diggs actually resides in Texas, so this would be a welcome sight for him I am sure. As for Poona, he played his college ball in Texas. Meanwhile, Aldon Smith would get a chance to compete on a Super Bowl-caliber team and show what he can produce in the spotlight. Sounds like a potential win-win-win for all parties.

This trade would leave the Seahawks rotation like so:

Defensive line:

DE Aldon Smith   Benson Mayowa    Damontre Moore
DT Jarran Reed    LJ Collier
DT Bryan Mone   Damon Harrison
DE LJ Collier          Jonathan Bullard     Alton Robinson

Safeties:

FS Ryan Neal        Ugo Amadi                  Damarius Randall
SS Jamal Adams  Damarius Randall      Lano Hill

With Bryan Mone and Damon Harrison in the fold, I feel a lot more comfortable about the prospect of losing Poona Ford. Mone has been sneakily good thus far and Harrison should produce once he gets in playing shape.

Ryan Neal has thoroughly impressed in his 3 games played. He has consistently made plays and deserves a shot to continue making plays. This trade wouldn’t leave the Seahawks thin despite losing 2 starters. While the Cowboys would solve their two biggest holes on the defensive side of the ball.

Next. Seahawks MVPs through the bye week. dark
