Trade target number 1: Aldon Smith, DE

Aldon Smith has been a hot name as of recent. He has a phenomenal story being outed from the league for nearly 5 years to rise above his off the field issues to come back better than ever. He is without a doubt in contention for Comeback Player of the Year.

The problem is, he is on a Dallas Cowboys team that has been decimated with injuries. The team is already starting to sell off their assets. One has to wonder if they lose to their division rival, the Eagles, this weekend if they will go full fire-sale mode.

The Seahawks should be pulling for an Eagles victory here. Aldon Smith being an aging veteran on a one-year deal could be a perfect sell piece for the Cowboys. Let’s check out Aldon Smiths stats thus far this year:

Tackles: 32

Sacks: 4

TFL: 3

QB hits: 8

QB Pressure: 15.8%

I originally had a trade idea involving two players. However, I am going to offer a different trade idea that purely involves draft picks this go-around.

Given that Smith has not had a sack over the last 3 games, I think his market value has decreased from my initial trade proposition. This plays in Seattle’s favor. Another part that makes this trade feasible is Smith’s very team-friendly contract. Seattle would inherit just around a $1 million cap hit. Easily affordable.

The conditional portion of the trade would be if Smith has at least 4 sacks over the rest of the season. If he does, Seattle would owe Dallas that 2022 6th round selection. If he does not, Seattle gets to keep the pick.
