Who to pay attention to in the Seahawks Week 8 matchup

The Seattle Seahawks are now 5-1 after losing their first game of the season to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime.

While the path to go undefeated for the season is now over, they’ll have a fresh chance to get back on track with a game against a division rival in the San Francisco 49ers.

While the 49ers are in last place in the division, they do have a winning record as they are 4-3. Despite this, they can’t be taken lightly as they are the reigning NFC champs.

Here is who to keep an eye out for in the Seahawks Week 8 matchup.

DeeJay Dallas

DeeJay Dallas is the Seahawks fourth-string running back but he may have to start if the three ahead of him are unable to play.

Chris Carson got injured in last week’s matchup and is considered week-to-week with a foot injury. As he was unable to return, Carlos Hyde had to come in and he got injured as well with a groin issue.

While Hyde could play this week, he has yet to practice which is a sign that he’s not looking good to suit up. Third-string running back Travis Homer is dealing with a knee issue and like Hyde, he has yet to practice this week either.

With Carson for sure out as well as Hyde and Homer not looking likely to play as we inch closer to Sunday, Dallas will have to take on a big load. Dallas has only gotten two carries this season for eight yards and it remains to be seen how he will handle RB1 snaps if he’s thrust into that role.

L.J. Collier

L.J. Collier has not done well this season. Through six games, he’s only recorded seven tackles (five solo) with a sack.

This week, Collier may have his toughest assignment yet as he’s set to take on Trent Williams who’s one of the best left tackles in the game, if not the best. Will Collier be able to be effective at all against a tough matchup?

Also, the Seahawks just recently acquired Carlos Dunlap from the Cincinnati Bengals. Dunlap is set to take Collier’s starting job once he’s able to play. This game could be a determining factor in what Collier’s role with the team is going forward.
