Three recent trades Seattle Seahawks should have never made

Trading back in the 2017 NFL draft to take Malik McDowell
Malik McDowell never played a down for the Seattle Seahawks. This bad trade doesn’t involve players but it does involve a trade down for John Schneider in 2017 when he probably overthought what he should have been doing. Schneider thought he could trade back and get an allegedly talented player who has some character issues.
What Schneider ended up with was a “player” with character issues who set Seattle back for a few years. But what if Schendier had stood pat (for once) and took a pick at number 26? (Seattle traded down three times in the 2017 before taking McDowell but started round one with the 26th pick.)
Seattle might have taken cornerback Tre’Davious White. White was a First-Team All-Pro with the Buffalo Bills in 2019. The Bills took White with the number 27 pick. Seattle took Shaquill Griffin later in the draft but could have had White and Griffin. Think about that for a second.
Seattle also could have drafted tackle Ryan Ramczyk who went to the Saints at number 32. Ramczyk was a Pro Bowler last year. Ramczyk is a right tackle. Had things worked out a slight bit differently, Seattle could have Duane Brown at left tackle and Ramczyk at right tackle right now.
Seattle might have had T.J. Watt who was drafted by the Steelers at pick number 30. Watt has 40 sacks in 3-plus seasons and has twice made the Pro Bowl. Watt had 36 quarterback hits last year alone.
Finally, Seattle could have had safety Budda Baker. Getting Baker would have made the trade for Jamal Adams unneeded. Seattle would still have its two first round picks in the next couple of seasons if Seattle hadn’t had to trade for Adams.
