Here are three reasons 12s should worry about the outcome between Seahawks and Rams week 10.

The Seahawks play the 5-3 Rams on Sunday in a showdown between NFC West rivals. Here are three reasons 12s could be worried about the game.

Aaron Donald wears a Rams uniform

Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in football and possibly the best player overall. Teams don’t just have one extra meeting when facing Donald in a week, they probably have three or more. He can wreck an offense by himself.

In his career against the Seahawks, which spans 12 games, Donald has sacked Russell Wilson 12 times and hit him 33 times. Wilson can probably tell you what soap Donald uses when he showers. Now with Ethan Pocic out this week for Seattle, Donald will be going up against backup Kyle Fuller. That’s bad for Seattle.

Ken Norton, Jr. is the Seahawks defensive coordinator

The Seahawks have the worst defense statistically in the NFL in 2020 and it isn’t close. Maybe some of this could be blamed on injuries as the secondary has rarely been without a healthy Shaquill Griffin, Quinton Dunbar, Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs and Ugo Amadi on the field at one time. But there’s something more.

Norton, Jr. calls an awful game defensively for Seattle. Take week 9 against the Bills for instance. For the first 28 minutes of the first half, Seattle sat back and let the Bills catch passes and then let the receivers run free for several yards after they caught the ball many times. But in the final two minutes, Seattle dialed up the pressure when the Bills had to drive down field with little time on the clock. Maddening.

And this is the way it has been for the last three seasons. Ken Norton, Jr. needs to be fired and a fresh pair of eyes brought in to fix the defense. Sure, there have been injuries, but the scheme doesn’t work and in-game play calls are worse.

Health of Seattle players

So back to the injuries. Seattle with a loss could drop to the third in the NFC West and they are not at all healthy going into the game. Besides Pocic being out, Seattle will be without Dunbar and Griffin. Running backs Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde will be out again this week as well. Seattle might simply lose because the Rams will be going into the game fairly healthy and playing against a lot of backups for the Seahawks.
