Seahawks versus Eagles: 3 bold predictions for week 12
By Lee Vowell
Seahawks will win when the final score is closer than the game actually was
I would never predict a Seahawks victory to be something like 35-14. I have been a Seattle fan for far too long to expect that outcome. Do I think Seattle can win on Monday by that score? Yes. Will they? Probably not.
As 12s all know even games that are fully under the Seahawks control end up giving fans a wee bit of nervousness. Remember the Seattle and San Francisco 49ers game in week 8? It felt like a blowout, didn’t it? Seattle only won by 10 points, though, after once leading 30-7 in the fourth quarter which felt like 45-3.
Week 12 will go the same way. Seattle will come out hot offensively by mixing the run and pass and while the Eagles will score 10 points by halftime on a touchdown pass by Wentz and a field goal but Seattle will have 14 and it will feel too close.
But the game will change in the third quarter. The Seahawks lead the NFL in points scored in the third quarter (8.7). The Eagles are 26th in points allowed in the third quarter with 6.4. The 4 point lead Seattle has at halftime will grow to 28-13 entering the fourth.
Seattle will then score early in the fourth to make it 31-13. But then the Eagles will mount a comeback. Philadelphia is 8th in points scored in the fourth quarter at 8.3. Seattle is last in fourth quarter points allowed with 10.7. By the end, Seattle will defeat the Eagles 34-27.
