Seahawks versus Giants: 3 bold predictions week 13
By Lee Vowell
The Giants have 170 yards of total offense
New York’s quarterback, Daniel Jones, is listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury. He is unlikely to play. And if he does play he will be doing so with one good leg which limits his running ability and that is probably the best part of his game. Even with Jones, the Giants offense was not good. Now they are likely to start Colt McCoy.
McCoy is not good. He is a 34-year old career backup who has started 7 games combined in the last 8 seasons. His career record is 7-21 but hasn’t won a game he started since 2014. He has a career touchdown-to-interception ratio of 29:27, hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass since 2018 but has managed to get sacked 12 times in his last 91 pass attempts. He can’t run and he can’t throw well so Seattle shouldn’t have any issues with McCoy.
Plus, McCoy doesn’t really have any receiving weapons. Darius Slayton leads the Giants in receiving yards with 584 (455 yards fewer than DK Metcalf) but Slayton has also caught just 57.6 percent of his targets. The Giants biggest receiving weapon this week might be tight end Evan Engram. Seattle is 20th in the NFL in allowing 585 yards to tight ends.
Wayne Gallman has stepped into the starting tailback role for the Giants since Saquon Barkley got hurt early in the season and has done decently but he still averages just yards a carry and except for his 94 yards running in week 12 has not had a game of more than 68 yards rushing.
Seattle’s defense has been playing better the last few weeks and there is no reason that shouldn’t continue in week 13. If for some reason the Giants have a good offensive day then coaching changes need to be made with the Seahawks.
