The way the Seahawks lost versus the Giants could be the way they lose the rest of the season.

Can we please go back to the way 12s felt after week 5 of the season? I mean, sure. The Seahawks defense was awful but the offense was so good that we felt confident that Seattle could make a deep run in the playoffs. And if only the defense would start playing better Seattle could be the best team in the NFL.

Well, seven games later the defense isn’t the problem. Oh, they are not without fault in the week 13 loss to the Giants. That third quarter run defense by the Seahawks was atrocious and that one quarter determined the outcome of the game. Seattle lost 17-12. It was 5-0 Seahawks at the end of the first quarter. By the end of the third it was 14-5 Giants.

And after watching Seattle go 3-4 in its last 7 games and lose to the Giants because the offense was dominated by what appeared to be a good Giants defense, it is conceivable that Seattle could lose every game the rest of the season.

Week 14 versus the Jets

The Jets have not won a game. They are 0-11. But in week 13 they should have beaten a not-bad Raiders team and lost 31-28 when they gave up a touchdown with 5 seconds left on a 46-yard touchdown throw. New York is terrible.

Yet, they held the Raiders to an average gain rushing of 2.9 as Las Vegas ran 25 times for 72 yards. This meant more passing from the Raiders and the Jets got an interception, two sacks and 6 quarterback hits. Should the Jets run defense play really well against Seattle and force a struggling Russell Wilson into having to pass, this game is a toss-up.

Not like Seattle’s offense wants to run Chris Carson for some reason. Carson ran the ball 13 times for 65 yards and did not get the ball on a fourth-and-one in the third quarter. Maybe Seattle should have punted. Whatever, since the Seahawks did go for it Carson should have gotten the ball instead of some weird swing pass to the near flat.

Week 15 to the Washington Football Team

Look at the Giants game and you will see exactly what you are going to get with Washington except that Washington is even better defensively. The Football Team is second in the NFL in sacks. They are also 4-7 entering week 13. They might lose on Monday to the Steelers but their defense will keep them in the game.

And right now, the Steelers are a better team than the Seahawks. It is difficult to imagine if Seattle’s offense plays the same as it has recently in two weeks, then Russell Wilson will get hit a lot and Seattle will lose another low-scoring game.

Week 16 versus the Rams

Right now, even with Jared Goff, the Rams are better on offense and defense than the Seahawks. Plus, Los Angeles seems to be difficult for the Seahawks even when the Rams aren’t that good. Los Angeles throttled Seattle in week 10 and even had Seattle beaten the Giants I was kind of expecting the same in week 16.

Week 17 versus the 49ers

Yes, Seattle completely dominated the 49ers in week 8 but things have changed for both teams since then. San Francisco is still a very injured bunch but did beat the Rams in their last outing. This means the 49ers are capable of beating anyone in the NFC West and the Seahawks and 49ers are rivals anyway.

Next. Full grades from Seahawks week 13 loss to Giants. dark

Yes, Seattle should win the game but they could also lose it because of the 49ers defense and ability to run the ball just as Seattle could lose every game on its remaining schedule and miss the playoffs.
