Seahawks special teams one bright spot in the loss

All year long, the Seahawks special teams unit has been great. In fact, they were the one bright spot in this game for the Seahawks. K Jason Myers was shaky last year but has bounced back with a great year in 2020. This is the kind of play the Seahawks expected when they signed him to a multi-year deal in the offseason.

P Michael Dickson has been great all year long. His cannon of a leg and his adept ability to pin opposing teams is second to none. In this game alone, he pinned the Giants inside their own 10 twice. This allowed a dominant Seattle defense to force a quick 3 and out and get the ball back in good field possession. In one particular instance, after the Giants were pinned inside the 10, the Seahawks forced a 3 and out and then blocked the punt.

This is a perfect example to illustrate how good the Seahawks special teams have been. Dickson forced them inside the 10 and then the punting unit made a game-changing play. In the video, after DB Ryan Neal blocks the punt, it bounced right into the hands of rookie HB Deejay Dallas. Just as easily it bounced in, it bounced right out, resulting in a safety instead of a touchdown. If Dallas were able to secure the ball and the Seahawks went up 10-0 instead of 5-0, then maybe this game has a different end result.

But, the point being is that the special teams unit made an imprint on this game. If the Seahawks were able to come out victorious in this game, then that unit would have deserved a lot of credit, and rightfully so.
