Seahawks Jamal Adams will make a statement versus the Jets
The Seahawks have a lot at stake when the Jets visit Seattle, but strong safety Jamal Adams has a little extra incentive for this contest.
The Seahawks are in a bit of trouble after their loss to the Giants, as all good 12s know. If a loss to that New York team was hard to fathom, it’s nearly inconceivable that the Hawks could fall to the Jets. Still, the Seattle offense hasn’t exactly been clicking, and the Jets are playing better lately. Seattle has plenty of motivation for this game, but no one has more than former J-E-T-S player and Seahawks stalwart, Jamal Adams.
Seattle’s new strong safety has been worth the high price Pete Carroll and John Schneider paid the Jets to bring him to CenturyLink – sorry, Lumen Field. Despite missing four games, Adams is still third on the team in tackles and leads in sacks, quarterback hits, and tackles for a loss. That’s as much a testament to the Seahawks anemic pass rush, but Adams is doing far more than his share.
Adams’ feelings towards the Jets
As for his feelings toward his former organization, Adams says he has no animosity for the team or his former head coach. As reported by Brady Henderson for ESPN, Adams did have this to say:
"“I don’t hate Adam Gase,” he said. “I have no problem with Adam Gase. I just feel he didn’t handle certain situations well as a head coach. That’s just my opinion. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, just like you guys are. Everybody’s entitled to an opinion, and that’s the world we live in. But like I said, I have no hate towards Adam.”"
Okay, I buy that Adams has no hate for Gase – unlike millions of New Yorkers. But you know he absolutely wants to stick it to his old team and his former coach. Adams probably thinks he was worth at least four wins to the Jets – and considering they were 7-9 last year and are 0 for 2020, he has a strong case.
As you’ll find predicted in one of the articles link above – come on, you already read it, you know the one – we expect Jamal Adams to go off on New York. Shockingly, the defense hasn’t been the problem lately. If Russell Wilson can get the offense back on track – and against New York’s atrocious pass defense, he better – Adams and the rest of the Seahawks will have plenty to celebrate Sunday evening.
