Defense

A. . . Seattle Seahawks. DEFENSIVE LINE

This Seattle Seahawks defensive front put together another nice game. Granted, it was against the Jets who are clearly the worst team in the NFL. But, also keep in mind, the Seahawks were without DE Carlos Dunlap. The Jets put together a nice opening drive that led to a field goal, but after that, they couldn’t do much offensively. I know they missed three field goals, but this game was never going to be close.

This defensive front finished the game with three sacks and 6 quarterback hits. It truly was awesome to see Shaquem Griffin record his first sack on the year. They often run stunts with him as the stunt man, since he has such great speed for his position. The Seahawks front four has really shown solid improvement in the past month.

. Seattle Seahawks. LINEBACKERS . A.

Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Jordyn Brooks once again put together a nice game. Jordyn Brooks recorded his first sack, but it got called back due to a penalty in the secondary. Brooks is another player who has great speed for his position and he has been coming along in the last month or so. K.J. Wright had another solid game in coverage. In fact, he almost had another interception. He and DT Poona Ford both went for the ball and inadvertently, knocked it out of each other’s hands.

The Seahawks defense held the Jets to just 69 rushing yards, most of which came on the opening drive. Bobby Wagner — the best linebacker in football — was stellar against the run. He helped propel this offense to scoring 40 points as he forced a fumble early in the 2nd quarter that led to points. Impressive performance from the linebacker group.

SECONDARY . A+. . . Seattle Seahawks

It must have hurt the Jets seeing Jamal Adams make history against them yesterday. With his sack in yesterday’s game, he brought his total to 8.5 sacks, which is a league record. He should have also had pick 6 — interception for a touchdown — but dropped the ball. He made a great play in coverage, but couldn’t hold onto the ball.

In D.J. Reed’s second game starting at CB2, he did well. His time there will be short-lived though as the Seahawks are expecting to have Quinton Dunbar back next week. With Dunbar and Flowers sidelined, 12s should have high expectations for them when they return. Over the last month, the entirety of the defense has improved. Specifically, the defensive line and secondary. With the defensive line applying more pressure, the secondary has to cover for less time. They will need to keep up this good play as the playoffs near.
