Seahawks make it look easy in Week 14, dismantling the Jets, 40-3, in their bounce-back win.

The Seattle Seahawks can add one in the win column after exerting their will on the winless New York Jets. In a dominant 40-3 victory, Seattle showed flashes of what it is to come as the season nears a finish. The defense was once again impressive despite not having Carlos Dunlap and the offense was able to establish a running attack early in the game. Both of those factors are large parts of the winning formula.

To close out the season, the Seahawks will be tested three straight weeks with the Football Team, Rams and 49ers remaining on the schedule. It appears more likely than not that Seattle will make the playoffs. The question that remains is, will they be a Wild Card team or a divisional winner? The blowout win over the Jets keeps them in contention for both the number one seed in the NFC and the NFC West.

Here are 5 takeaways from the bounce-back win.

RT Brandon Shell got re-injured

After missing two weeks, RT Brandon Shell returned to the field of play against the Jets. In the first month and a half of play, the Seahawks offensive line was providing Russell Wilson with some of the best blocking protection he’s ever had. But, after a couple of injuries on both the offensive line and in the backfield, the Seahawks offense felt the effects.

Listen, no matter how good Wilson is or the threat that D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett impose, the offense only goes as far as this offensive line will take them. Yes, Wilson can make plays with his feet and has done it time after time in his career. But, that kind of play is not sustainable for four quarters. It may just work on one drive late in the game when he decides to take off with his legs more often (which is what he typically does).

Last week, the Giants kept attacking the right side of the Seahawks offensive line as no one could block anybody. Brandon Shell, the ex-Jet returned in Week 14 and looked pretty solid. But, he re-injured the ankle that kept him sidelined for weeks 12 and 13.

In Week 15, the Seattle Seahawks will take on the Washington Football Team, which has a furious front four. We have seen both sides of this Seattle offense. The one with good protection and the one without. The one without showed up in all four losses. If Shell misses this game, it may be another long day for Seattle on the road.
