Here are three reasons the Seahawks will beat Washington on Sunday.

The Seattle Seahawks are second in the NFC West at 9-4 while the Washington Football Team is first in the NFC East at 6-7. Washington has an excellent defense that is likely to give Russell Wilson and company issues. But here are three reasons Seattle will win.

The defense will stay more disciplined than it did against the Giants

There are a lot of similarities between this game and when the Seahawks played the Giants a couple of weeks ago. New York came into the Seattle game on a roll having won three straight. Washington has won four straight heading into week 15. Both the Giants and likely Washington will play the Seahawks starting a backup quarterback and running back and both Washington and the Giants have good defenses.

Yes, New York defeated Seattle but a lot of that had to do with Seattle’s defense being bad against the run in the third quarter. Seattle will remember this and play a complete game against a bad offense and Seattle will win a low scoring game.

It’s time for more Russell Wilson magic

Russell Wilson just hasn’t been himself since a week 7 loss to the Cardinals. He has had two good games in the past 8 games with a couple of other solid ones and some bad games. Wilson needs to be near his best for Seattle to win against a very good Washington defense in week 15.

And he will. Wilson is due for one of those games where he does Russell Wilson things like make throws that seemingly only he can make (see Wilson’s throw to Doug Baldwin a few years ago where he pirouetted a thousand times before completing a pass for 40 yards). Wilson can’t hold to the ball too long on Sunday and maybe Seattle should go no-huddle more but Wilson will be great.

Michael Dickson and Jason Myers

Seattle’s special teams are, well, special. Kicker Jason Myers hasn’t missed a field goal this year and is 11 for 11 over 40 yards-plus. Washington’s kicker, Dustin Hopkins, has missed seven of his field goal attempts. His 75.9 percent success rate is 23rd in the NFL.

Next. 3 bold predictions for Seahawks versus Washington. dark

Seahawks punter Michael Dickson has had 23 punts downed inside the 20-yard line which is fourth in the league. Dickson’s 49.3 yards-per-punt is third in the league. Dickson will pin Washington back several times and coupled with some excellent Seahawk defense, Seattle will keep Washington’s offense in check.
