The Seahawks had a bunch get named as Pro Bowlers and several who got snubbed.

So seriously, 12s. How good would this 2020 Seahawks team be without special teams? Not nearly as good and Seattle wouldn’t be 10-4 without the third phase of the game. And while Seattle did have long snapper Tyler Ott and special teams everyman Nick Bellore named to the Pro Bowl, others should have been named as well.

2020 is a weird year. There will be no actual Pro Bowl and that is a good thing as it is a horrible exhibition of what the NFL usually looks like and becomes more of a Hey! Let’s not get anyone hurt sort of contest. The actual playing of the game is silly. It’s more about the accolades for each player of being named to the game.

Seven Seahawks were named to the Pro Bowl. Quarterback Russell Wilson (his eighth time – he is really good if you didn’t know), Bobby Wagner (seventh time), safety Jamal Adams (third straight season and first with the Seahawks), safety Quandre Diggs (first Pro Bowl and maybe more of a fan vote than anything else), D.K. Metcalf (his first of likely many) and Ott and Bellore.

But besides those guys, how can punter Michael Dickson and kicker Jason Myers not be named. Myers hasn’t missed a kick this season as far as field goal attempts go (he is 20 for 20) and missed just three of his 48 extra-point attempts.

Dickson is currently second in yards per punt at 49.4 and fourth in net yards per punt at 44.1. The only player who ranks above Dickson in average yards per punt is Buffalo’s Corey Bojorquez who only averages 43.3 net yards per punt (meaning he wrongfully outkicks his coverage a lot). Of the three players who rank above Dickson in net-yards-per-punt only Washington’s Tress Way (by .6 yards net a punt) is in danger of making the playoffs. This means Dickson is making important punts for a playoff team and helping his team at crucial moments.

And the last obvious Seahawk player to get snubbed is linebacker K.J. Wright. According to Pro Football Focus, Wright is the 11th-highest-graded linebacker in the NFL this season. Wright is consistently great and consistently underrated. Of the 10 linebackers who made the Pro Bowl, Wright is higher graded than nearly all of them.

Why? Because the NFL Pro Bowl is all about sacks when it comes to linebackers. That is a bit like home runs in baseball. Sure, home runs are exciting but they don’t always win you games. Do you know what wins games in the NFL? Linebackers like K.J. Wright helping lead Seattle to a 10-4 record and another playoff berth.
