Hats off to the offensive line

There were a lot of question marks surrounding this offensive line coming into this matchup. The biggest being, will RT Brandon Shell be active? Well, he wasn’t and it didn’t seem to matter. Going up against a talented Washington front four, this Seattle offensive line allowed 0 sacks. Their play from start to finish was exceptional and is the biggest takeaway from this game. The Seahawks offense only goes as far as this offensive line takes them.

How many times this season have we seen this offensive line break down and cause Wilson to throw an interception or just totally disrupt this offense? Seattle felt their offensive line matched up well with this Washington front four and that is perhaps why we saw so many running plays. To their credit, they did handle their own and create big holes for these backs to hit. Carlos Hyde broke off a big 50+ yard rush for a touchdown to break open this game. Chris Carson also played a nice game, running hard as always.

Every once in a while, Washington applied pressure in the backfield, but Wilson is good enough to escape. If Seattle threw the ball more, I would have felt this was their best game of the season. But, I did see enough good things from this offensive line to feel confident moving forward. With Brandon Shell expected to return this weekend, I expect a similar performance against the Rams.

Remember, the last time these two teams faced, Leonard Floyd had 3 sacks. The Seahawks front 5 will need to protect Wilson and give him enough time to make the throws and more importantly, keep his eyes down the field. I was very impressed with what I saw in Week 15 against the Football Team.
