The Seahawks will be without Greg Olsen and a few other players against the 49ers in week 17.

The Seahawks put out their week 17 injury list and have two players officially out in week when Seattle plays the San Francisco 49ers. Running back DeeJay Dallas and cornerback Jayson Stanley will not play. Neither player gets anywhere near starter snaps so their absences should not be grave to Seattle’s chances of winning in the season finale.

Head coach Pete Carroll said on Friday that tight end Greg Olsen won’t play either, however. Olsen is officially listed as questionable but Carroll said Olsen tweaked his injured foot in week 16 and simply needs to rest to get ready for the playoffs that may start next week for the Seahawks.

Right tackle Brandon Shell seems to be getting better from his ankle injury but is now going through COVID-19 testing as Shell was in close contact with a person who had tested positive for COVID-19. So far, Shell has tested negatively but the Seahawks might hold Shell out simply to be cautious.

Carlos Hyde is still dealing with an illness and is questionable against the 49ers. If Hyde cannot play, Seattle will still have Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny, of course.

Guard Mike Iupati has a neck injury and likely won’t play. In his place will be Jordan Simmons who has actually played pretty well in Iupati’s absences over the last couple of seasons. Simmons will also be going up against the banged-up 49ers so Seattle should be OK along the line.

The 49ers

Wow. The 49ers have just been crippled all season and week 17 is no different. San Francisco will be without seven players on Sunday, including defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (who has started 12 games this year), cornerback Richard Sherman, top receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel and linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Greenlaw had 8 tackles against Seattle in week 8.
