The Seattle Seahawks were eliminated from the playoffs after losing to the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, January 9, 2020.

The Seattle Seahawks were eliminated from the playoffs after suffering a 30-20 defeat in the Wild Card round. To make matters worse, it came at the hands of a divisional rival, the Los Angeles Rams. The Seahawks faced the Rams in 2 of their last 3 games. Collectively, this was the third matchup of the season between these two teams. Coming into this highly anticipated Wild Card matchup, the outcome of this game was going to be reliant upon the performance of the Seahawks offensive line.

The Rams defense had been spectacular all year long. They finished the regular season second in sacks (53) and allowed the least amount of yards per game. Although they were expected to come into this matchup without QB Jared Goff – who broke his thumb in Week 16 when these two teams faced for the 2nd time – most still did not count out the Rams. Primarily because their defense has shown the ability to carry the weight of this entire team. In fact, they did just that in Week 17 winning against the Cardinals, earning themselves a playoff spot.

Los Angeles deserves a lot of credit for their dominant defensive play as once again they carried the weight of this team. With an early injury to John Wolford, the Rams offense was significantly limited as Goff struggled passing the ball. It was the Rams defense that made stop after stop, getting sack after sack that ultimately led to an upset victory in the Wild Card round.

While this wasn’t the outcome most 12s were expecting, the truth is, this Seattle team simply looked like they didn’t belong on that field. The careless penalties coupled with poor play calling led to a disastrous performance that has many questioning the future of this organization. While that may be a slight overreaction, there is no denying that Seattle did not play up to par on Saturday.

With that said, we will indulge into our final grade report of the season.
