Lane Kiffin

Weird move? Maybe. But Lane Kiffin made his bones under Pete Carroll when both were at USC. Kiffin also makes $4.2 million max in 2022 at this point. He could make more with the Seahawks. And as much as I am not a huge fan of Kiffin personally, he knows how to coach offense and guide a team to points.

Carroll also likes hiring people with whom he has worked before. See Seahawks current defensive coordinator Ken Norton, Jr. as an example of that, for instance. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Carroll has already made a call to Kiffin just to see what could happen.

I realize that Kiffin has only been head coach at Ole Miss for one season but Kiffin isn’t afraid to bolt a place after just a year (he did it to the University of Tennnessee in 2009). Kiffin also probably really wants to be a coach in the NFL again and being at Ole Miss only means he will never finish in first place in the SEC.

dark. Next. Seahawks need to re-sign these 5 free agents this offseason

Kiffin does have a $4 million buy-out at Ole Miss but to an NFL team that means little. Lane Kiffin would be a very good offensive coordinator in Seattle and was an offensive coordinator under Pete Carroll when both were at USC.
