Defensive tackle Shelby Harris

Seattle’s defense was a weird unit in 2020. Of course, as all 12s know, the Seahawks started off horrendously on defense and then got much better. But to begin the season Seattle’s run defense was very good and then seemed to get worse as the season wore on. Seattle also still needs more of an interior pass rush, at least anyone other than Jarran Reed.

Shelby Harris has been a starter for the Denver Broncos for just the past two seasons but has been getting significant reps for the past four. Each season he has improved his ability to rush the quarterback but Harris has always been great at stopping the run.

In 2020, Harris played in 11 games and recorded 2.5 sacks but had 11 quarterback hits. In 2019, Harris had 6 sacks. In 2018, though Harris started just 6 games (but played in all 16), he had 5.5 sacks and 9 quarterback hits while playing on just 52 percent of the Broncos defensive snaps.

Harris also doesn’t miss many tackles. In each of the last two years, Harris has missed just one tackle each season. Harris did hurt his knee late in the 2020 season but is expected fully back by the beginning of 2021. Seattle will need to pay Harris a bit to entice him to play in the Emerald City, but he would be worth it.
