Analyzing the market value for the Seahawks top 7 free agents
By Geoff Shull
The Seahawks have 30 players hitting free agency this off-season, including some key starters.
The Seahawks are coming into a really difficult off-season. They will likely have a lot of turnover coming their way. They have very few resources at their disposal. Roughly $10 million in ‘true’ cap space. To add to this, they have only 3 draft picks.
Like I said, tough decisions are coming. I don’t envy their situation in the least. One has to wonder how drastic this off-season could be. There could be sweeping changes across the board. Whether that be players, coaches, or something else entirely. On the other hand, there could be nothing more than a resetting of the roster with less expensive alternatives.
The team could also elect to attempt to flip an established veteran or two for cap relief and additional draft picks. Something will need to give. The team is slated to lose far more assets than they will be able to bring in.
It is absolutely imperative that the team is careful in how they allocate their limited resources. This means very specific targeting in the draft. It also means, only spending what is absolutely necessary on their own free agents.
This article’s intent is to go over the top 7 Seahawks free agents market value. I will simply provide the analysis of each player, their importance to the team, and what a contract will likely look like.
From here I will let each of you decide how to spend the money. Leave a comment on whom you would like to keep and whom you would be ok letting go.
The final slide goes over what I would do with each player given the market evaluation.
