Player 7: Chris Carson, RB

To anyone who knows me, they know Chris Carson is quite literally my favorite player on the roster. I simply love the violence he plays with. I appreciate the agility, toughness, and grit. He is one of those guys who you can give him an objective and he will do anything possible can to get that objective complete.

He is one of the best pure running backs in the league. His field vision is superb. His tackle-breaking is elite. His agility and hops…. Well, this video more or less tells you about that.

Despite the flaws he possesses, he is a player that can carry an offense. If he is allowed the opportunity. This past season he averaged just under 5 yards per carry. Carson is one of those guys you can simply give the rock to and know he is going to churn out yards and extra yards all day long.

I do want to caution you; the statistics point to second contracts for running backs being a bad idea. Historically, running backs have a very short life span in the NFL. They simply get beaten and bruised play in and play out. That is exasperated by Carson’s bruising playing style.

I fully believe Carson has another couple of years of productive play in the tank. I am simply saying there is a risk of re-signing him.

Market valuation: 3 years, $25 million ($8.33 million per year).

Market comp: Melvin Gordon, Broncos.
