Defensive End: Daelin Hayes, Notre Dame

Hayes has been turning heads all week at the Senior Bowl. He is playing with phenomenal bend, power, and speed. His pass-rushing toolbox has been unparalleled compared to the competition. His hand usage has been both precise and violent.

His effort play in and play out has been superb. His field awareness has also been quite good. This is incredibly important as the LEO is a pass rush first mentality. For him to be successful, he would need to be able to identify what’s happening around him and adjust.

He fits the typical size of a Seahawks LEO at 6’3” and 261 pounds. I expect he would pass the agility thresholds without issue. The only thing that could give Seattle pause is he falls below the 33” inch arm threshold.

Every other check box should be met. You never know, DJ Reed blew away Pete Carroll at outside cornerback despite not remotely being big enough for Carroll’s traditional cornerback checkboxes. Maybe Coach Carroll will start easing the hard lines he draws for prospects and making them wish list items instead.
