A 10-step plan to get the Seahawks back to the Super Bowl
By Geoff Shull
Seattle has a hand full of exclusive right free agents.
Last off-season Seattle spent heavily on tendering all their restricted and exclusive right free agents. Far more than they should have. This off-season, there are only 2 players Seattle should prioritize placing the tender on.
Seahawks tender Bryan Mone, DT:
Mone is an excellent depth player. He has the size to sit at the 1-tech and eat blockers all day. This allows holes to form where blitzes can glide straight through with minimal contact. He is also deceptively athletic. He has been fairly successful himself with pass rushing. This isn’t a name that’ll excite many fans. However, there is a lot of untapped potential here. All for the low cost of .49% of the salary cap.
2021 cap hit: $850k
Seahawks tender Ryan Neal, S:
Ryan Neal was thrown to the wolves mid-season when Jamal Adams went down with an injury. However, he played like his hair was on fire. He was dynamic making turnovers, correctly reading plays, and overall being a stout player. It is a no-brainer to bring back Neal.
2021 cap hit: $780k
Previous effective cap space: $5.6 million.
Cost from signing: $1.6 million.
New effective cap space: $4.0 million.
