Three dream Seahawks free agent signings in the 2021 offseason
By Lee Vowell
Corey Linsley
I know that Seattle is going to wait and wait and wait before they make any kind of splash in free agency. This is what the team always does. But what if this year is different? Maybe they zig instead of zag? If they do, Linsley needs to be a main target for them.
Seattle has had issues at center really since Max Unger was traded before the 2015 season. Justin Britt was OK and everyone else just iffy. Linsley, a first-team All-Pro in 2020, would immediately fix the center position for the Seahawks for years to come as he is just 29 years-old and should be good for 4-5 more seasons, at least.
Linsley is probably going to make about $12 million a season so if Seattle restructures Wilson (and they need to) then a signing of Linsley would take the cap space down to about $18-20 million. Eight NFL centers make $10 million or more a season and Linsley is worthy of making at least that much as he is one of the better players at his position.
If Russell Wilson is tired of getting hit so much then Seattle would be wise to help Wilson be happier by signing Linsley. Signing Linsley would leave $18-20 million in space for Seattle.
